Offset your air travel

Doing your best by turning the thermostat down, hypermiling in your car, minimizing food miles… It feels (and is) good. But how frustrating is it to know that every time you get on a plane for business, family or holidays, you undo all those carbon savings?

There are many ways to “offset” your air miles. We recommend Jet-Set Offset . Sign up once to donate one cent per mile to your favorite environmental cause – every time you fly. Why choose a mileage-based donation vs. a carbon offset purchase? Check out their FAQ page. All these donations are tax-deductible.

Using them already? Use another provider? Let us know how they’re doing by leaving a Testimonial here, or emailing us at info@coolerconcord.org.

Deep Dive

Air travel is one of the largest contributors of carbon emissions across the world. And it keeps on growing. In 2018, Americans flew a record high 1.5 trillion miles, and carbon emissions from jet-fuel have been increasing 4% per year. Global air travel is expected to nearly double in the next 20 years. So at current rates of passenger flight growth, air travel could account for over 25% of global carbon emissions by 2050.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, one round-trip flight from Washington, D.C. to Beijing emits more CO2 per passenger than the average car in the United States does in an entire year. Other carbon calculators estimate that just one round-trip flight from New York to Los Angeles can emit as much carbon as the average car does per year. And sadly it’s not like airplane manufacturers are hard at work making their vehicles more fuel efficient.
